Artelinea
Florentine Glass, Italian Design, and the Bathroom as a Work of Art
Walk into a great Italian bathroom and you'll feel it before you see it — a particular kind of lightness. The walls feel different. The vanity catches the morning light in a way wood never quite manages. The washbasin sits on its surface like a piece of sculpture made for the room. The mirror seems to belong to the wall rather than hanging on it. Italians have been designing rooms this way for sixty years, and one of the names most responsible for the look is Artelinea. We carry the line at European Kitchen & BathWorks because, simply put, no other manufacturer in the world brings this much glass, light, and Italian color to the bath.
Founded in 1962 in Florence by Marcello Gobbini — who started a mirror-plating workshop as a teenager during Italy's post-war economic boom — Artelinea is now in its third generation, run by Marcello's sons Massimo (President) and Marco (Sales Director). The company is headquartered just outside Florence, in the heart of the Renaissance, where it has spent the last six decades quietly mastering one of the most difficult disciplines in luxury bath design: manufacturing every element of the bathroom — vanity, washbasin, mirror, top, lighting, accessories — entirely from glass, in-house, by hand.
Why It Matters in Your Home. Most luxury bathroom vanities are essentially wood boxes wrapped in veneer or laminate — beautiful, but visually predictable. An Artelinea vanity is something different. The doors, drawers, tops, and even the basins are produced from enamelled glass and crystal in the company's 12,500-square-meter facility outside Florence, finished with Blum runners, supported by an in-house woodworking department, and offered in a color palette and surface depth that simply doesn't exist in domestic cabinetry. The result is a vanity that catches and softens light the way real Italian craft does, and that genuinely looks like nothing else on the American market.
The Materials. Beyond standard glass, crystal, and wood, Artelinea has developed proprietary materials that exist nowhere else: Opalite® (a remarkable enamelled glass), Dualite® (a proprietary structural composite), Opitech, and Dualtop. The company partners with the Department of Chemistry at the University of Florence and the legendary Scuola del Vetro of Murano, Venice to continually develop new materials and finishes.
The Collections. More than fifteen furniture collections — including Plissé System, Monolite, Volumi, Domino, Alexander, Quadra, Zen, +Skin, Fusion, Kimono, and Regolo — designed in collaboration with Anita Brotto and Bizzarri Design. Every collection can be customized through Artelinea's online 3D configurator, with fully modular depths, widths, and configurations to fit any bath layout.
Sustainably Made. Artelinea's facility runs on photovoltaic panels producing 80% of its energy needs, fully recycles all wastewater and rainwater, and produces 100% recycled cardboard packaging in its own on-site box factory — operating, in their words, at "zero environmental impact."
